Ionization describes the process of removing electron(s) from a neutral atom (a positively charged ion called "cation" is created) or adding electron(s) (a negatively charged ion called "anion" is created).
The amount of ions in the air differs greatly depending on the environment and explains why we feel much more comfortable and find the air much more pleasant in the mountains or by the sea than in the city or indoors.

Plasma is also called the fourth state of matter. Solid becomes liquid, liquid becomes gaseous. If further energy is added to a gas composition, the gas is ionized and changes to the plasma state. In nature, we rarely see this condition with our eyes, for example in lightning and the northern lights.
Depending on the type of energy supply, the gas composition and the degree of ionization, a distinction is made between hot and cold plasma. Cold plasma is not a fully but only partially ionized gas. It began its use mainly in the medical field, where it was used to sterilize surgical instruments. Wherever hygiene plays a central role, plasma is an effective tool to use.
SAMC'sO2 The cold oxygen plasma used is based on a unique, patent-protected technology (by ERDWELLE Technologies Inc.). Compared to other ionizers, it almost exclusively breaks up the oxygen atoms and converts them into negatively charged oxygen ions.
A protective army of several millions of ions are now on their way to neutralize harmful germs directly in the room. Compared to filter technologies, the air is cleaned directly in the room and not just in the device. The effectiveness of our product has been tested by the Fraunhofer Institute (IVV) demonstrated.
